Nana Upstairs& Nana Downstairs

As a young boy author/illustrator Tomie DePaola loved visiting the house where both his grandmother and great-grandmother lived. Because his great-grandmother lived upstairs she was called Nana Upstairs and because his grandmother lived downstairs she was called Nana Downstairs. Tomie enjoyed spending time with both of them and later, after they died, he was comforted by his memories of their time together.
